ANIMAL PORTRAITS UK
My portraits are quite playful – somewhere in between cartoon-like and what is seen as fine art. I do not consider myself a fine artist. I like to engage in a kind of playfulness. A playfulness of what is possible. I play with the moment and the mood of the animal being portrayed. That seems to come first, before I even start to technically put the portrait together. I try to capture the first impression – the little nuances of the animal. Quite often, I find that it is those nuances that stand out more than the actual “perfect” definition of the portrait.
